A Circuit Built on the Ancient Edges of Wales
The Welsh island with 2,000 years of History.
The land at Ty Croes was acquired by the Ministry of Defence in 1940 - used for decades as a rocket launching base and radar station before the first tranche was returned to the Bodorgan Estate in 1989.
A local farmer with a rallycross car was the one who first ran on the old roadways in 1993, on a makeshift mile-long track nine metres wide. The Wirral 100 motor racing club formalised what he had started, and by 1997 the circuit held its full MSA and ACU championship licence.
The 2006 redevelopment transformed it entirely - the old layout was scrapped in favour of a completely new course designed to work with the natural contours of the land. Elevation changes, sweeping cambers, a 10% banked corner, two hairpins, and fast flowing sections that demand commitment and balance in equal measure.
The 2.1-mile International circuit is the one worth driving. Rocket, Church, Tower, the Corkscrew, the Esses - fast where you want it fast, technical where you least expect it.
One of the straights is named in honour of Tom Pryce, Wales' only Formula One Grand Prix driver. The circuit sits within the Ty Croes Site of Special Scientific Interest - marine heathland, Marsh Fritillary butterflies, Brown Hares, and Red Kites overhead. There is nowhere else in British motorsport quite like it.
What to Expect at Trac Môn Anglesey
Anglesey Circuit is located at Ty Croes on the west coast of the island, accessible from Junction 5 of the A55 via the A4080 - approximately 90 minutes from Chester and two hours from Manchester.
Anglesey Airport sits minutes from the circuit and is suitable for light aircraft and helicopter arrivals.
Holyhead, with its direct ferry connections to Dublin, is seven miles away - making Anglesey a natural choice for clients travelling from Ireland.
Parking is extensive and complimentary within the circuit grounds. Your Merrills experience coordinator will arrange all paddock access and circuit logistics in advance.
The circuit's hospitality facilities provide enclosed trackside space available for private hire, with views across the circuit and down towards Llanddwyn Island and the Menai Strait.
For clients who want to extend beyond the circuit, Beaumaris Castle, the Menai Strait, and Snowdonia National Park are all within thirty minutes.
